Essential Oils and Herbs

Herbs have been valued by all ancient cultures. India and China developed extensive medical systems based on herbs. Until the 17th century, botany and medicine were inseparable. Today there is growing recognition of the superiority of natural ingredients to synthetic imitators. Herbs are chemically complex with several elements working synergistically. This leads to an innate balancing of intelligence and energy that synthetics cannot match.

Sundari’s formulations use essential oils, which are the most concentrated and refined form of a plant, and therefore the most effective at nourishing and rejuvenating the skin. As the source of the plants own immunity, they have natural antibacterial, antiseptic, and preservative properties. Essential oils are extracted from aromatic herbs, trees, bushes, flowers, seeds and shrubs from all over the world.

Essential oils and Essence play a significant role as they open the heart and mind help to purify the air and the aura, and aid in establishing receptivity. Essential oils have many attributes; some are anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. These subtle aromatic oils obtained from fragrant or pungent plants, are added to base oils in small quantities for accent. The heavier base oils help to activate essential oils and give them greater power of penetration. Essential oils should not be applied to mucus membranes, as they can be highly irritating.

Quality

Climate has much to do with the quality and quantity of essential oil produced. The chemical composition of the oils varies with the time of the year, time of the day, condition of the soil, variety of the plant, etc. The plants, flowers, and herbs we use are grown in a chemical and pesticide-free environment, utilizing the richest soil, and harvested at precisely the right time.
