About IPL / PhotoFacial
If you are bothered by how your skin looks because of sun damage, fine lines, or dark spots, Renew Beauty Med Spa & Wellness Center can offer you a skin consultation at our Dallas or Frisco, TX offices to see if you could benefit from intense pulsed light therapy (IPL) with Cynosure® technology. An IPL photofacial is a treatment that rejuvenates the skin for adults with hyperpigmentation and wrinkle problems on their face and neck. IPL may not be an invasive procedure, but it can be very effective and produce amazing results. IPL sends intense wavelengths of light that warm the skin just enough to set off the natural regeneration process and boost collagen production. As the added nutrients take effect, you should see a healthier layer with a more even tone and decreased spots of pigmentation.
"They run A LOT of deals so book early! I have been going to this place for a couple years now. I've had facials, IPL, Microderm, laser hair removal, hair color/cut, mani pedi. The front desk and the people providing the services don't always communicate with each other. It takes a long time to book an appt but they have cancellations so you can always call that day and see if there's been any cancellations and if you can get it..it's happened sometimes but not that often. I'll continue to return and would recommend. I think the people doing the procedures are experienced and professional."- R.L. / Yelp / Nov 30, 2012
"I recommend Renew. Great technicians, great location, and a full range of services. I have been going to Renew for about three years now. I have had everything from Botox, Laser Hair Removal, IPL, Manicures and a Brazilian Blowout and hair cut. The technicians to be very professional and good, particularly the ones doing Botox and Lasers. (kudos to Allison, Rex, Angela and Felicia! All excellent) You have to book ahead and be a little flexible to get the times you need, but the more you go in the better they come to know you. I have had some appointments that were mixed up by the busy front desk, but I have been treated to microderms or manicures to compensate me for my lost time. All in all, I recommend this place to all my friends. They do a great job and if you are a repeat customer they meet or beat most Groupon prices in town."- J.C. / Yelp / Apr 08, 2013
"I just searched online to find Renew's phone number and came across these bad reviews. I have never written a review for anything but felt like I should at least give my 2 cents since my experience has been great there. I purchased a groupon for Laser Hair Removal and IPL and have been very pleased. I kind of expected service to be a bit compromised with the huge sale of groupons but since I was getting such a great deal I didn't think it was a big deal. I purchased additional packages to continue LHR services. I admit, the service was not that great in the very beginning but I have been coming to this med spa for almost a year now and it has drastically improved in my opinion. I have seen many aestheticians and finally found one that I really like. The others were fine but some are better than others. Whitney is very thorough and knowledgeable. I really appreciate her conservative approach when it comes to lasers especially during the summer months when we all get lots of sun exposure."- M.T. / Yelp / Jul 22, 2011
"I am confused with the low reviews, everyone at Renew @ Northpark has been fantastic and I love the "liquid facials" I have had over the past 18 months since I moved back to Dallas. I've had multiple Botox injections, Voluma in my cheeks 2 times (a conservative 1 unit a few months ago, 2 units today as a final touch up) and the Hydrafacial. I love the results. Heather and Misty are great and the results are very very natural. I'm going back in 2 weeks for a photofacial to treat cheek redness. They are very accommodating, professional and they make sure I don't look overdone like a Real Housewife Of ____ as they are conservative in their approach to a natural look. I am definitely a repeat customer and also like their professional product lines that I've used for years."- D.F. / Yelp / Sep 23, 2014
"I Love this place...! I have received multiple services/treatments and combining HCG, Zerona and the Vela have proven to be highly effective in literally melting away fat. I lost 19 inches and 14 pds. In three weeks, and still losing! The B-12 that they supplement me with weekly gives me the extra boost and helps me thru the process. The staff is friendly and professional. I have at least 3 appointments a week and have never had a problem with scheduling or re-scheduling if necessary. The therapists are passionate about what they do as well as the process of my transformation. Mia, who performs my Skin Laser/Fraxels and Jackie who performs my Vela and Zerona treatments (as well as keeps up with measuring the inches I have lost!), are like my own personal cheerleaders. These people truly love what they do and are as dedicated to my journey as I am! The results I am experiencing are consistent and definite. I cannot say enough about this place it ROCKS! Thanks Renew Beauty Med Spa for the difference you have made in my life! Michelle T."- M.T. / Yelp / May 03, 2013
An IPL photofacial works deep within the layers of your skin to treat many complexion blemishes (especially sun spots and brown lesions) with little or no recovery needed. Ideal candidates for an IPL photofacial at Renew Beauty Med Spa & Wellness Center may have several problems with their skin, including sun damage, rosacea, hyperpigmentation (brown spots), wrinkles, rough texture, large pores, flushing, freckles, age and sun spots, or spider veins. We will assess your skin to see if you are a candidate for an IPL photofacial during your private consultation.
A photofacial is completed inside our Dallas or Frisco, TX office in about 20 – 30 minutes in one of our minor procedures rooms if performed alone. To start the IPL facial, the technician will clean and dry the skin to be treated before covering your eyes with shields. The photofacial is administered using a handheld device that passes over the skin while emitting pulses of laser energy. While most patients will feel some discomfort during the photofacial, it is generally tolerable for the quick treatment time.
What to Expect
There is no recovery period associated with an IPL photofacial treatment, but you will leave your appointment with your skin a little red and swollen. This will go away on its own in about a day — it can be concealed with makeup if you want. Renew Beauty Med Spa & Wellness Center recommends patients use an ointment on the skin to decrease irritation and speed healing. It also helps to take an anti-inflammatory medication to help decrease swelling. After several days, the irregularities that rested under the skin will come to the surface and then begin to flake off. It's necessary to keep your skin protected from the sun at all times after an IPL photofacial treatment and to not pick at your skin while it heals. While you should see visible results after the first session, your skin will attain the best results after several photofacial sessions. We recommend approximately 3 – 6 treatments scheduled around once a month at Renew Beauty Med Spa & Wellness Center.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does IPL cost?
Every patient case is unique, which means the cost of IPL will be dependent on your unique condition. Renew Beauty Med Spa & Wellness Center offers monthly specials and accepts many forms of payment. During your initial visit, we can help estimate your cost and determine the number of treatments needed for optimal results.
How quick are the results from IPL?
Improvements can be seen after each treatment, but the best results can be seen a month after a full series of treatments is completed. It is common for patients to respond differently to each treatment session. Patients will see a gradual improvement of redness, blotchiness, sun spots, and age spots over time.
What are the possible side effects of IPL?
Most patients experience mild side effects, like temporary swelling, redness, crusting, bruising, or superficial blisters. These subside within a day or two after the procedure. Patients will not be sun sensitive, but they should keep in mind that excessive sun exposure will affect the results of the procedure. Patients should always wear sunscreen to protect their skin, and decrease the appearance of redness, brown spots, wrinkles, and skin cancer.
Do I need to prep for IPL?
Patients about to undergo an IPL laser treatment are usually asked to avoid self-tanners and excessive sun for 2 – 4 weeks prior to the procedure. You should discontinue the use of minocycline, tetracycline, doxycycline or Retin-A/Renova several days before each treatment and may be asked to take aspirin or ibuprofen a week before the procedure to help prevent bruising. You should also protect the treated areas with sunscreen between sessions.
Why so many sessions?
A full series of IPL Photo Rejuvenation sessions are required in order to provide gradual, natural-looking improvement with little to no risk of the patient’s safety. Multiple sessions also allow for longer-lasting results.
