How does it work?
Laser hair removal works through the principle of selective photothermolysis, where specific wavelengths of laser light are used to target and destroy hair follicles. The Spectrum laser system emits precise pulses of light that are absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair. This light energy is converted into heat, which then damages the hair follicles, inhibiting their ability to produce new hair.
During the procedure, the laser targets hair in the active growth phase (anagen) while minimizing damage to the surrounding skin. The Spectrum’s advanced technology allows for fine-tuning of the laser’s wavelength and energy output, accommodating different hair colors, skin types, and hair thicknesses. The heat from the laser disrupts the follicle’s growth cycle, leading to a gradual reduction in hair density and a slowdown in regrowth. How fast will I see results?
Results from laser hair removal are typically noticeable after the first few sessions, with many patients observing a significant reduction in hair density and slower regrowth rates. However, because hair grows in different stages—anagen (growth), catagen (transition), and telogen (rest)—the laser is most effective during the anagen phase. As a result, multiple sessions are necessary to target hair follicles at various stages of growth and achieve optimal results.
Initial treatments usually begin showing noticeable results within a few weeks, with hair regrowth becoming finer and less frequent over time. Most patients require a series of sessions, spaced several weeks apart, to ensure that all hair follicles in the active growth phase are treated. Complete results, including substantial hair reduction or near-total hair elimination, are typically visible after completing the recommended number of treatments. AFTER YOUR TREATMENT
Please avoid direct sun tanning for at least one (1) week post-treatment. Self tanners/spray-on tans are a great solution against the harmful rays of the sun and can give you that same "sun kissed glow". If you must be in the sun, use a 45 to 50 SPF sunscreen with titanium oxide. We offer medical-grade sun screen and organic hair-inhibiting products/ingrown hair solutions. We strongly recommend these products to help you achieve the best results. Ask your provider for details.
Shaving is recommended prior to your next treatment- you may shave as often as you wish! Please do not wax, tweeze or pluck. You may bleach or use products such as Nair until your next treatment.
