Relaxers vs Fillers

At Renew Beauty in Dallas, we offer a number of relaxer and filler treatments to help our patients maintain their smooth, youthful and crease-free complexion. While both of these are injectable treatments that combat the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, they both work in very different ways.

Relaxers

Relaxers, such as Botox and Dysport, are often called neuromodulators and are designed to treat lines and wrinkles that appear when making facial expressions. They work by blocking the nerve impulses to targeted muscles that are responsible for causing lines and wrinkles to appear on the face, temporarily relaxing them. This allows the existing creases to smooth out and helps slow the appearance of new ones.

Relaxer treatments are ideal for correcting:

  • Frown lines between the brows

  • Crow’s feet

  • Worry lines on the forehead

  • Bunny lines on the nose

  • Vertical lip lines

  • Chin dimples

In addition, relaxer treatments can also help lift the brow without surgery and refresh your appearance.

Results from relaxer treatments generally take about 2-10 days to take effect and last for 3-4 months before requiring another treatment.

Fillers

Fillers, on the other hand, help to correct lines and wrinkles that appear when the face is at rest. While there are a number of different dermal fillers available, the ones we offer at Renew Beauty are made from a substance that is found naturally in the body called Hyaluronic Acid (HA). When injected, these dermal fillers help to immediately plump up the skin and restore volume.

Filler treatments are ideal for correcting:

  • Laugh lines

  • Marionette lines

  • Chin dimples

  • Vertical lip lines

In addition, some of our fillers can also help enhance your lips and contour and restore volume to your cheeks. (Learn more about our Juvéderm collection here and our Restylane collection here).

Improvements are generally visible immediately after a dermal filler treatment and can last between 6 months to a year depending on which filler you receive.
