Read and ShopFor young women and girls with disfiguring burns, the road to self-acceptance and self-love can be a long one. One nationwide organization is partnering with Renew Beauty Med Spa to help with the transformation.
Founded in 2003 by burn survivor Lesia S. Cartelli, Angel Faces is a nonprofit organization that empowers adolescent girls and young women with severe, permanent scars from burns and traumatic injuries. Inspired by her own experience and professional work, Cartelli created the program to address the emotional and social challenges faced by girls with disfigurements—challenges that traditional burn camps often overlook. What began as a short retreat in Julian, California has grown into a nationally recognized program, now including a Level II retreat for women ages 19–29 focused on mentorship, leadership, and resilience. In 2013, the program expanded to the East Coast in partnership with Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. Over the past 16 years, Angel Faces has reached hundreds of participants and thousands more through its ripple effect, earning numerous prestigious awards for its innovative, research-backed approach.
